Electrical Circuits are designed to work within a temperature range that does not affect the surroundings and or the insulation on the cables adversely. If care is not taken in the design of electrical systems or they are overloaded by equipment failure such as motors and pumps etc then cables and joints and at times switchboards can fail and in some cases fires occur. The use of Thermal Imaging cameras along with knowledge of electrical systems and expected loads, a good operator can determine when some or all circuits are reaching critical points. This maintenance can save thousands of dollars. The above photo shows a breakdown of the ceiling insulation The above photo shows an excessive load onto a circuit breaker, but with a further effect heating up the BUS bar, this is important to fix before failure. This is what the Switch board looked like without thermal imaging, No signs at all that there was an impending problem.
